Article XII Vacancy

In the event that an officer or a committee member is unable to fulfill the responsibilities of his/her position, the President shall appoint a replacement who will serve for the remainder of the current year.  If the vacated position is that of an officer, the replacement must be confirmed by the membership as a member of the Executive Board.  This will be done within thirty days of the vacancy by a secret ballot in an election conducted in the manner determined by the Elections Committee.  If the vacated position is that of a standing committee chair, the standing committee must elect a new chair who must then be confirmed by the membership as a member of the Executive Board in the manner stated above.

If the vacancy is that of the President, the President Elect or the Past President shall complete the former President’s term and shall select a former Past President to serve as Past President until a new President Elect is elected by the membership through its regular election procedure.
